I Want a Website! Where Should I Start?

Website projects usually start with “how should it look?”. The right first question is different: whose job does this site make easier, and how?

1. Write the goal in one sentence

“Get the quote form filled” and “sell products” describe two entirely different sites.

2. Prepare the content first

Projects that start without copy and imagery ready take twice as long to deliver.

3. Domain and hosting

Register the domain in your brand’s name together with e-mail; on hosting, SSL and backups are non-negotiable.

4. After launch

Going live is not the finish line — measurement, content freshness and security patches are continuous.
